Valerio Pastore was born in Bari in 1983. After getting his Scientific High School Diploma, he successfully completed the Comics (2002-2004) and the 2D-3D Animation (2005-2008) training courses at Comics International School (Scuola Internazionale di Comics) in Firenze, Italy. In 2010 he got the professional Adobe certificate for illustrator e Indesign after attendance of training at MultimediaCenter (Bari, Italy).
He developed the sceneries for the animation TV series “Mostri e Pirati” (Monsters and Pirates) for the holding Ferrero, he edited the storyboard for the short animation movies of the project “Ritrono al futuro” (Back to the future) commissioned by the Apulia Region and participated to the European project Use-it Map with regards to the editing and illustration of the map of the city of Bari.
He has published several comics artworks; the most relevant are “Horses”, a graphic novel edited by Noreply where Patty Smith’s lyrics and music are translated into illustration and presented as comics and “Ritmo lento in fondo al mare” (Slow rhythm down by the sea) edited by Hyppostyle, graphic novel inspired by the song “Canzone a Manovella” (Crank handle Song) of Vinicio Capossela.
He is currently self-employed at his art studio “Arte in scatola” (Art in the box) in Gioia del Colle (Bari) where he works on projects related to comics, illustration and graphic design; he is also working as comics teacher for art schools.
